Topshop/Topman Opening, New York City

So I’ve been hearing a lot about, and the biggest news in recent weeks everywhere, is the opening of Topshop/ Topman’s first flagship store in SoHo. It’s been reported by a few of my NYC friends who turned up for the 11am grand opening on the 2nd April, that the wait to get inside was almost 2 hours and the queue stretched for 2 or more blocks through out the day! When they finally got inside, the interior and product mix they said, was very much in keeping with the feel of their UK stores – very American Apparel meets H&M meets Urban Outfitters.

I lived in London for 3 years back on the late 90′s and Topshop/ Topman was our go-to place for affordable, cheap basics – t-shirts, sweats, underwear, never anything ‘fashion‘ (lets face it, minimum wage was £4 at the time and with the cost of living at an all-time-high, Topshop wasn’t all that bad. It was actually kind of cool)… but waiting in a queue for 2 hours?! Could not be bothered…
